How to Balance Hormones with Reiki

Operation Traffic (7)

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love Reiki. It’s one of my favourite things to share with my clients. If you’re new to me and what I do, welcome! I wrote about the basics of Reiki in this post Reiki for Beginners.

In a nutshell, Reiki uses energy to help the body heal by focusing on our seven main chakras, each responsible for very specific areas of our bodies, but all interconnected. Reiki can impact our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Because all the systems of our bodies are so interconnected, having a Reiki treatment that balances and clears your chakras also helps to regulate and balance your hormones.

Signs that your hormones are out of whack

Because hormones are linked to a woman’s menstrual cycle, often the most obvious signs that something hormonal is going on are related to changes in the menstrual cycle such as heavier bleeding, pain, or spotting.

But anyone, males or females at various ages, can experience hormonal imbalances. Other classic signs that your hormones are out of balance include:

  • Moodiness,
  • Fatigue,
  • Skin problems, and
  • Brain fog.

How Reiki can help

Reiki uses healing energy to keep our chakras functioning at their best. Each of the chakras is linked to a different area of the body that includes a hormone producing organ. So, when your chakras are clear and balanced, your hormones will be more balanced too!

Here’s a quick summary of symptoms of hormonal imbalances and the associated chakras along with the related hormone-producing organ thanks to this Mind Body Green article.

Fatigue, anxiety, brain fog

These symptoms are often caused by a blocked root chakra. The root chakra is located at the base of your spine and the related hormone-producing organs are the adrenal glands which are located above your kidneys.

Menstrual problems and moodiness

The sacral chakra is located above the pubic bone and is often associated with creativity and sex drive, so it makes sense that the hormone-producing organs associated with it are the ovaries and testes.

Low appetite or weight gain

The pancreas is the hormone-producing organ associated with weight issues, and it is located closest to the solar plexus chakra just above your belly button.

Fatigue and moodiness, especially jealousy

These symptoms of hormonal imbalance show up in the heart chakra. Our thymus is located in the front of the chest near our sternum, so it makes sense that this is the hormone-producing organ regulated by the heart chakra.

Moodiness, neck pain, and chronic sore throats

I bet you didn’t see this one coming! Neck pain and sore throats aren’t often associated with hormone imbalances, but they should be. Our thyroid gland, is located at the base of our throat and it’s responsible for producing hormones that regulate metabolism, heart rate, digestive function and a whole lot more.

Brain fog, moodiness, headaches, and fatigue

This is a big one! When the third eye chakra (located between your eyes) isn’t functioning well, it can cause multiple hormonal symptoms, because it is associated with the pituitary gland which sends hormones and messages to many other hormone-producing organs.

Skin problems, depression, anxiety

The crown chakra, located at the top of our head, regulates our pineal gland which is near the centre of the brain and is responsible for regulating our sleep patterns.

As you can see, the symptoms of hormonal imbalances are not linked specifically to one chakra. Hormone-producing organs are all throughout our bodies, so it makes sense to keep all our chakras functioning at their best and a Reiki session can help you do that.
